Investigative Journalism Program
The Center for Media Studies and Peacebuilding (CEMESP) has received a grant from USAID Media Activity through Internews to implement an investigative journalism fellowship program for Liberian journalists.
The investigative fellowship under the journalism component of USAID Media Activity seeks to build the capacity of local journalists to improve their storytelling skills through in-depth reporting and reinforcing the ability to fact-check to identify and counter misinformation and disinformation.
The fellowship also enhances the freedom of expression and information dissemination that
strengthens media professionalism and the quality delivery of news and information.
The fellowship offers support and empowerment for the first batch of 18 journalists with gender balance so that they can increase and improve their coverage of public finance, environment, natural resources management, and anti-corruption issues in a way that promotes accountability and transparency in the public sector.
The fellowship package includes training, mentoring, stories production, and a modest story grant to enable fellows to pursue story ideas. CEMESP intends to hone the reportorial skills of 18 journalists as fellows for 10 months (November 2022 – August 2023).
